From March 27th to 29th, the Horticulture Contest of 2023 Shanghai Vocational College Student Skills Competition was held at the SHAFC's Wushe base. Eight players from Shanghai Jiguang Polytechnic College, Shanghai Urban Construction Vocational College, Shanghai Technical Institute of Electronics and Information, and SHAFC participated in the contest.
The contest is a team project with each team consists of 2 contestants. It is divided into two parts: design and construction. The design session lasts for 3 hours. The contestants are required to complete a set of 7m×7m small garden landscape design and construction drawings according to the specified environment and materials. The construction session lasts for 21 hours. The contestants need to carry out the construction according to the construction drawings, and completed modules such as carpentry, masonry, paving, waterscape construction, and plant landscaping at designated stations.
Zhou Qipei, Secretary and Deputy Director of the Educational Technology Equipment Center of the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission, and Yin Yinan, Deputy Section Chief, came to the site to encourage the contestants. They visited the Shanghai training base for the horticulture contest of the 46th and 47th WorldSkills Competition. SHAFC set up an observation room for the competition so that the team leaders and instructors could watched the whole process through the live broadcast. The whole process of the contest was open and transparent.
SHAFC attached great importance to the contest. President Chen Lijing and Vice President Zhang Jiang came to the site. The contest was also fully supported by relevant departments and carried out smoothly.
This year's Horticulture contest is sponsored by the Vocational Education Office of the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission and the Educational Technology and Equipment Center of the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission, and undertaken by SHAFC. With the theme of Your Skills Can Move the World, the contest adopts the standard of the WorldSkills Competition and the National Vocational College Skills Competition in method, rules, and the set of topics. It mainly tests the skills, adaptability and creativity of the contestants. The scoring criteria is concrete and full of environmental protection safety and awareness. During the contest, the contestants are required to reasonably arrange the work process, perform their constructions according to ergonomics, and complete the tasks within the specified time.
SHAFC will take this competition as an opportunity to further promote the integration of industry-education integration and job-class competition certificate, so as to comprehensively improve the quality of education and teaching. SHAFC will give full play to the effectiveness of the Shanghai training base platform for the World Skills Competition horticulture project, deepen school-enterprise cooperation, industry-school cooperation and inter-school exchanges, and cultivate more artisan gardeners in the new era.
