At present, the department is composed of 6 teaching offices: Chinese, Mathematics, Higher Vocational English, Vocational English, Japanese and P. E. Office, mainly responsible for teaching Chinese, Mathematics, English, Japanese and Physical Education respectively. There are 36 faculties including 9 teachers with vice-senior professional titles and 12 with intermediate titles.

Guided by the long-term development outline of SHAFC and the principle of basic courses serving professional ones, the department promotes the reform of curriculum and teaching methodology. By far positive effects have been achieved in the courses of Computer Mathematics, Chinese, English and “Two courses”. Meanwhile the P.E. Office attaches importance to the health of students and sports activities. Owing to the excellent performance in local and national sports meetings, SHAFC has been honored as Advanced Unit in Sports for many times.
