The department got its name in 2021. It has 33 faculty members, including 25 with master's degrees and above 23 teachers with intermediate and senior titles, and 25 teachers with double-qualified qualifications. There are also 23 part-time teachers in the department.
The department has set the majors like Computer Network Technology, Software Technology, Internet of Things (IOT)Application Technology, Facility Agriculture and Equipment, etc. The major of Software Technology is the characteristic construction major of Shanghai characteristic higher vocational colleges, and the pilot major of Shanghai high-level integration training mode. The major of Facility Agriculture and Equipment is the first batch of modern apprenticeship pilot construction majors of the Ministry of Education, the pilot major of Shanghai's secondary and higher vocational education training mode, the Shanghai first-class higher vocational education construction major. The major of IOT Application Technology is a pilot major of Shanghai's secondary and higher vocational education training mode. There are 9 professional training rooms in the department, including Computer Network Training Room, Integrated Wiring Training Room, Agricultural Product E-Commerce Website Development Training Room, Agricultural Information Technology Training Room, Agricultural IOT Application Training Room, IOT Smart Home Training Room, and Comprehensive Agricultural Automation Training Room, Agricultural Robot Technology Training Room, and the Intelligent Water-Saving Irrigation Training Room. The department has 7 public computer rooms, more than 600 computers, and a laboratory area of 2,000 square meters. It has built an National Agricultural IOT Application Demonstration Base and a high-level three-dimensional cultivation intelligent environmental control plant factory with the cooperation of enterprises
The department has established a professional teaching steering committee composed of industry and enterprise experts. The committee holds professional construction guidance meetings regularly, track changes in industrial talent needs in a timely manner, and continuously carry out teaching reform and innovation. With the guidance of the committee, the training of students can better satisfy the needs of Shanghai's urban modern agriculture and Shanghai's regional economic development.
The department actively promote school-enterprise cooperation, expand off-campus practical training base, and strive for the integration of production and education. It has carried out school-enterprise cooperation with more than 10 enterprises such as Shanghai Agricultural Information Co., Ltd., Shanghai Huawei Water-saving Irrigation Co., Ltd., and Shanghai Ruizhang IOT Technology Co., Ltd. The department has established stable connection with IT skill certificates organizations such as Shanghai Human Resources and Social Security Bureau, Vocational Skill Evaluation Center in Electronic Industry under Ministry of Information Technology, Ruijie Network College, etc. It actively organizes students to attend IT vocational skill trainings and certificate qualification examinations to gain related certificates. The students have actively took part in various IT skills contests and have won many awards.

The students are expected to be proficient in computer network application, computer network information security, medium and small business network system planning and implementation, local area network formation, management and maintenance, network product sales, network equipment installation, configuration and debugging so that they can be qualified for computer network construction, management, network programming, network information security management, the planning and design of small and medium-sized websites, website design and production, and network application development.
